The State Security Service (SSS) has invited and interrogated whistleblower of the budget padding scandal in the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
gathered that Jibrin arrived at the SSS Headquarters on Friday night and was there for hours.
In his usual manner, Jibrin tweeted his movement just before going into interrogation with the SSS.
“Just arrived SSS HQ. The journey to get Speaker Dogara and other members of the corrupt group has began!” he tweeted.
The lawmaker representing Kano State in the House of Representatives has vowed to ensure that Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and at least three other members of the House’s leadership are removed from their positions and tried for corruption.
Meanwhile, the House Appropriations Committee, of which Jibrin was erstwhile chairman, has disowned the lawmaker, saying he prepared the budget himself.
Deputy Chairman of the committee, Chris Azubuogu told newsmen in Abuja that Jibrin’s allegations against Dogara were baseless and that it wanted no part in his shenanigans.
“Jibrin is on his own and we as members of the Committee on Appropriation, saddled with the responsibility of treating the 2016 and subsequent national budget are solidly in support of Dogara and other principal officers of the House of Representatives.
“We, therefore, request that Jibrin should tow the path of honour and conduct himself in a manner befitting an honourable member of the House of Representatives,’’ Azubuogu said.
“As members of the Committee on Appropriation, we want to state categorically clear that the ousted chairman’s action does not in any way reflect the position of the committee.
“We wish to state that we totally dissociate ourselves with all the calculated plot to pull down the integrity of the leadership and members of the 8th House of Representatives,’’ Azubuogu said.
