Fulani leaders in Zamfara have voluntarily surrendered arms and
ammunition to embrace peace against the backdrop of incessant
Fulani-herdsmen attacks in communities. The Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement issued by the Acting
Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, on Wednesday. The statement said; “in continuation with the on going efforts of
ridding Zamfara State of the menace of livestock rustling and armed
banditry, troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade of 1 Division Nigerian Army
today (Tuesday) carried out fighting patrol and cleared armed bandits
camp at Baba-Ndoka, Chillin and Pamagaji-Magiha villages located at
Dansadau Emirate, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. “The patrol team also had meeting with Fulani delegation led by
Alhaji Ruwa who voluntarily handed over 2 locally fabricated pistols and
3 Dane guns. Usman said the Fulani leader also promised to persuade all other
known armed bandits to come out and renounce their illegal vocation.
