President
Muhammadu Buhari has embarked on a trip to N’Djamena, Chadian capital – his
first international trip in 50 days. Buhari is
visiting Chad for the inauguration of President Idriss Deby, who will on Monday
take the oath of office for the fifth time. Since June 19
when Buhari returned from London where he went to rest and seek medical
attention, the president has not left the shores of the country. The issue of
international travels had attracted criticisms, with many accusing the
president of spending a lot on foreign trips.
This is Buhari’s second official visit to Chad, and his 28th international trip. Six of those trips were made within his first 50 days in office.
