Kanye West and Jay Z: 4 reasons responsible for their impending breakup

  • Kanye has confirmed what many people have suspected for long: all is not well between him and Jay Z.

‘What’s up with you and Jay man, are y’all ok man?’
When Kanye uttered those lines on the 2005 track ‘Diamonds from Sierra Leone’, he probably didn’t know he was merely being prophetic.
11 years later and Kanye has answered his own question: no, Jay and Kanye are not okay.

Kanye’s most recent rant on his Saint Pablo tour that had to do with how him and erstwhile mentor and brother figure, Jay Z had drifted apart confirmed a suspicion that had been rife for a while now: the two are not on the best of terms.
We will trace the reasons why that is so.

Jay Z and Beyonce do not like Kim Kardashian

Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West … and Kim Kardashian West
One of the things Kanye said was that Jay Z didn’t come over to see Kim after the Paris attack. ‘Don’t call me, after the robbery, and say ‘how you feeling?’ You wanna know how I’m feeling? Come by the house.  Bring the kids by the house like we brothers. Let’s sit down,’ he said.
That feeling is not new; for years it has been an open secret that the Knowles-Carter was not the biggest fans of Kanye’s wife. Neither of them attended Kim and Kanye’s wedding in 2014 and there’s no doubt that that would have hurt Kanye, who clearly adores Beyonce and has stuck up for her more times than it was required.

Apple and Tidal

The two streaming services was the cause of Kanye’s rant. ‘I wasn’t on the song [Pop Style] because of Hov. Cause of some TIDAL-Apple bullshit. This shit be gettin’ me tight every time I perform this motherfucker. Y’all didn’t get what y’all was supposed to get with me and Drake on this song because of some TIDAL-Apple bullshit.’
Only in July, he went on a long Twitter rant, decrying the ‘dick swinging’ contest between the two companies and demanding that Apple buy over TIDAL from Jay Z. Kanye likes to say he’s only driven by artistic tendencies and not necessarily the power play going on between Apple and TIDAL.

Jay Z only likes his friends more when they’re not as successful as him

Memphis Bleek, Jay Z and Beanie Siegel
Look at the long list of people that have been with Jay Z before Kanye:  Memphis BleekBeanie Siegel, even J. Cole afterwards. These are artistes who, while all talented, never really reached Jay Z’s pinnacle and have for the most part known their place on the team – secondary to the big boss Jigga. Kanye on his part has broken out of that enclosure repeatedly and given his ‘big brother’ serious competition.
Ye’s 2004 debut album The College Dropout went triple platinum. Jay Z’s Black Album a year prior yielded the same sales (and had mainly Kanye West productions). Kanye’s Late Registration in 2005 also went triple platinum but Jay’s Kingdom Come the following year undersold with double platinum status.
American Gangster only went platinum, as well as The Blueprint 3 in 2009. Meanwhile, Kanye in 2007 went double platinum with Graduation and platinum in 2008 with 808s & Heartbreak. It’s like their record sales were chasing each other, indicative of the fact that despite Jay Z’s decade head start, Kanye was putting equal numbers on the board. Jigga might be resenting that.

Jay Z has never been a loyal friend

Jaz-O was a great influence early in Jay Z’s career
Again, look at the records. Everybody that Jay Z has been close to at some point he eventually cut off. Jaz-O, who practically gave him his name doesn’t even get mentioned by Jigga. His partner, Dame Dash too was given the boot as soon as it was apparent that Jay Z could do without him. DMX, Beanie Siegel, Foxy Brown – none of them would call Jay Z a loyal friend. Maybe the time has come for Kanye to learn that his big brother has moved along from their friendship.
